Job Title: Apprentice Building/Quantity Surveyor Job Description: We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Apprentice Building/Quantity Surveyor to join our team at Edge Careers. As a key member of our support functions, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth delivery of our student accommodation projects. Key Responsibilities: * Manage commercial and contractual aspects of relationships with consultants and contractors. * Support the compilation and issue of invitations to tender, analyze contractor quotations, and make recommendations for the placement of orders. * Procure robust, clear, and considered contracts or appointments for contractors and consultants for the delivery of pre- and post-contract services. * Assess contractor payment entitlement and process payments. * Ensure contract variations are identified, valued, and agreed with contractors in a timely manner and in line with specific construction contracts. * Prepare the final account and settlement where no external consultants are engaged. * Update internal cost databases for use in current and future project forecasting. * Produce monthly forecast final cost reports, taking into account variations under consideration or instructed, to ensure financial modeling and cash flows are accurate and maintained. Knowledge & Qualifications: * Qualification in quantity surveying or construction management. * Main contractor or PQS background with refurbishment and new build expertise. * Demonstrable experience of cost management on a variety of projects. * Good IT skills, including proficiency in using Microsoft Excel and Word.
