Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Standards Specialist to join our team at Pearson. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and integrity of our vocational qualifications in Sports and Coaching.

About the Role:

The Senior Standards Specialist will be responsible for monitoring assessment and internal verification for a range of programmes within a Principal Subject Area (PSA) across all relevant frameworks or standards. This includes undertaking sampling of learner work, providing sector-specific support and guidance to centres, and producing reports on national standards.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Undertake sampling of assessment and internal verification decisions and records for Sports and Coaching Qualifications within a Principal Subject Area (PSA) to affirm that national standards have been achieved and upheld.
  • Support, advise and guide centres based on the outcomes of the sampling process.
  • Direct centres in the delivery of WBL Sports and Coaching towards meeting compliance requirements.

Key Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Substantial recent experience in verification of qualifications within the sector.
  • Assessor qualification.
  • Teaching/training qualification at Level 3 or above.
  • IQA Award.
  • EQA Award.
  • Significant experience in delivering and assessing vocational qualifications.
  • Lower or higher level assessment and delivery experience across a range of qualifications.
  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) in the field of assessment and delivery of vocational qualifications.

Skill Set:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A clear understanding of the educational landscape and regulatory requirements for qualifications within the Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF) and National Qualification Framework (NQF).
  • Detailed knowledge of the specifications that comprise the area of expertise for the role.
  • Excellent report writing skills.
  • Ability to edit materials to ensure they are grammatically correct and fit for purpose.
  • Excellent communication, written, verbal, IT and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to understand the implications of decisions taken on Pearson's behalf and not to operate outside the sphere of responsibility defined within this job description.
  • Demonstrable people management skills.

Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum.
