Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Product Safety Specialist to join our team at BAE Systems. As a key member of our Safety & Environmental team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and integrity of our products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a robust Safety Management System (SMS) to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Lead product safety hazard and risk identification, management, and assessment activities to minimize potential risks and ensure the safety of our products.
  • Oversee the administration and management of the Project Hazard Log to ensure accurate and timely reporting of hazards and risks.
  • Complete peer reviews, checking, verification, and assurance tasks to demonstrate the adequacy and robustness of the Safety Case and supporting documentation.
  • Understand the application of wider Safety Case, Quality, and Management System documentation to ensure seamless integration and compliance.
  • Influence the construction and delivery of the Project Safety Case, including Safety Case reports, to ensure accurate and effective communication of safety information.
  • Produce, present, and articulate clear and logical technical safety arguments to stakeholders, including senior management and regulatory bodies.
  • Provide technical support and oversight to the assessment and quantification of functional integration risk to ensure accurate and timely identification of potential risks.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Knowledge of HAZOP/HAZIN/FTA and experience in the use of Safety Management Systems (SMS).
  • STEM degree or equivalent experience.

Desirable Skills:

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Experience in chairing Hazard Identification (HAZIN) meetings.
  • Experience in mentoring/coaching teams/individuals.
  • Submarines design life-cycle experience.
