DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

The Financial Crimes Office for EMEA (FCOE) operates within the Global Financial Crimes Division (GFCD) and is focused on safeguarding our reputation and the interests of our clients within the legal and regulatory framework. Our mission is to establish and maintain robust systems and controls that protect client assets and mitigate the risk of financial crime.

TEAM STRUCTURE

This role includes managing 2 direct reports.

ROLE OBJECTIVE

The primary responsibility is to drive the execution of MUFG Bank's financial crimes risk appetite, policies, and standards by overseeing a sanctions advisory hub for the EMEA region, ensuring that guidance is clear, informative, and consistent.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee 2 direct reports and assist in managing the Sanctions Advisory team.
  • Analyze case and query volumes to forecast future trends.
  • Provide expert advice on sanctions matters to the Sanctions Advisory team.
  • Draft, review, and endorse Sanctions Policy documents for the EMEA region.
  • Present essential Management Information and sanctions regulatory updates at monthly forums.
  • Deliver timely and consistent sanctions advice to key stakeholders regarding transactions.
  • Conduct risk assessments on proposed transactions.
  • Evaluate sanctions clauses in contractual agreements.
  • Review sanction alerts identified during Know Your Customer (KYC) processes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to perform Customer Due Diligence when sanctions issues arise.
  • Assess and approve New Product Approvals from a sanctions perspective.
  • Support GFCD in gathering customer information related to sanctions data.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Essential:

  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of sanctions.
  • Proven experience in team management.
  • Strong background in banking.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Core Competencies:

  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Solid understanding of Banking and Investment products.
  • Good grasp of financial crime risk (AML and ABC) in banking.
  • Comprehensive understanding of risk management and control concepts.
