Orthopaedic Therapy Assistant

Job Summary
The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a motivated and organised Band 4 Therapy Technician to join their adult inpatient therapy team. As a key member of the team, you will assist in the delivery of therapy services by supporting Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists in the assessment and treatment of highly complex patients.
Main Duties
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting in the delivery of therapy services by supporting Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists in the assessment and treatment of highly complex patients.
- Independently treating patients post-operatively on the short-stay ward and supporting patient pathways.
- Providing appropriate therapeutic interventions to patients referred by therapists and progressing these treatments as part of your own patient caseload.
- Independently assessing patients prior to day case procedures and facilitating therapy discharge pre-operatively where appropriate.
- Monitoring and ordering specialist equipment and materials required by the inpatient therapy teams.

Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must have previous experience of working with people with an injury or disability and an understanding of the role of an Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist. You must also be physically fit, as the post involves moving and handling of patients and equipment.
