We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Critical Care Specialist to join our Emergency Medical Retrieval Service (EMRTS). As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our service.

This is a unique opportunity to work alongside our team of experts in emergency medicine, prehospital care, and critical care. You will have the chance to participate in a full shift 24/7 rota, working alongside more experienced doctors who provide support to junior grades at Morriston ED.

Your clinical responsibilities will include diagnosing, supervising, and managing patients attending the ED, providing initial treatment and assessment, and arranging for patients to be reviewed or admitted by medical staff from other specialties.

You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the development of EMRTS, writing and reviewing Standard Operating Procedures, undertaking audit, and participating in monthly Clinical Governance days and training.

In this role, you will be clinically responsible for the diagnosis, supervision, and management of patients attending the ED. You will also provide initial treatment and assessment of adult and pediatric patients presenting with illness or injury and where necessary arrange for patients to be reviewed or admitted by medical staff from other specialties.

The appointment is subject to the national medical and dental terms and conditions of service. The post will be remunerated on the NHS MN37 pay scale, at a point that matches NHS training grade pay and progression for the individual concerned, banded at 50%.

Swansea Bay University Health Board has responsibility for the health of around 390,000 people in the Neath Port Talbot and Swansea areas. We are a University Health Board working in partnership with Swansea University, Swansea School of Medicine, the School of Health Science, and the Institute of Life Science.

The Health Board is part of A Regional Collaboration for Health (ARCH), which is a partnership with Hywel Dda UHB and Swansea University. Aimed at improving the wellbeing and wealth of South West Wales. Swansea is Wales' second-largest city, and sits on the five-mile sweep of Swansea Bay. The department has close links with a number of specialties with the department having consultants accredited in intensive care medicine, paediatric emergency medicine, and pre-hospital care and the Welsh Centre for Emergency Medicine Research based in the department. In addition, we have consultants with further qualifications in quality improvement, education, and change management, allowing us to support individuals wishing to develop skills or a career in a wide range of interests.

As a Critical Care Specialist with Aeromedical Experience, you will be working in a fast-paced environment, making decisions under pressure, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient care. Your ability to communicate effectively, manage risk, and maintain high standards of documentation will be essential in this role.
