About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Social Work Specialist to join our team at Wiltshire Council. As a key member of our Support and Safeguarding Service, you will play a pivotal role in empowering families and protecting futures.
The successful candidate will be based in Chippenham and will work with vulnerable children and families, from pre-birth to age 18. You will be part of a dynamic team that operates on a patch-based model, matching families with your expertise and chosen patch.
Main Responsibilities
- As a primary worker, you will have case responsibility for children in need, children in need of protection, and children looked after.
- You will interpret and implement statutory duties and departmental policy and procedures in providing services to children and young people.
- You will complete enquiries and assessments, identifying the needs and risks to vulnerable children and young people, giving due consideration to their wishes and views.
- You will take appropriate action to assess and minimize any identified concerns or risks to children/young people.
- You will draw up and implement plans to address identified issues, ensuring social work intervention is ongoing only when necessary in people's lives.
- You will carry out regular reviews of individual plans, record outcomes, and formulate revised plans that are outcome-focused.
- You will convene meetings to assist in implementing and reviewing plans for vulnerable children.
- You will write reports for child protection conferences, planning meetings, looked after children reviews, legal meetings, and court hearings.
- You will work proactively and in partnership with other agencies to plan and deliver coordinated services to children, young people, and their families/carers.
