Job Description:

The Comhairle nan Eilean Siar is seeking a Support Assistant to provide support for children and young people with additional needs. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to meet the education, personal care, and welfare needs of pupils.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist teaching staff in meeting the needs of pupils with additional support needs
  • Undertake playground and lunchtime supervision
  • Support the inclusion of all pupils in the setting
  • Support the health and well-being of pupils and follow the Getting It Right for Every Child (GIRFEC) approach

Requirements:

  • Experience of working with children, either as a parent or in a professional capacity
  • Understanding of the basic needs of children
  • Ability to cooperate with others and work effectively as a member of a team
  • Patient, cheerful personality with a flexible and caring approach

Additional Information:

The post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with children. The salary for the post is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance. Please see attached Job Description and Person Specification for further information.
