Job Title: Financial Director

Fawkes and Reece is seeking a highly skilled Financial Director to oversee the financial operations of our business. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for providing strategic and operational support to our Board of Directors, ensuring the financial health and sustainability of our organisation.

About the Role:

As our Financial Director, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of financial services, including accounting, finance, payroll, and the parent company finance relationship. You will also be responsible for enhancing profitability and cost optimisation, as well as overseeing cash flow management, financial reporting and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, compliance, and risk management.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide strategic and operational support to the Board of Directors
  2. Manage all aspects of financial services, including accounting, finance, payroll, and the parent company finance relationship
  3. Enhance profitability and cost optimisation
  4. Oversee cash flow management, financial reporting and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, compliance, and risk management
  5. Build effective relationships across the business, providing advice to support department change initiatives and the delivery of new financial strategies, policies, and procedures
About You:

  1. Appropriate professional qualifications, ACA preferred
  2. Meticulous accounting skills and knowledge of procedures
  3. Positive and constructive outlook, with powerful analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  4. Ability to work effectively under time pressure with a hands-on approach
  5. Excellent communication skills, with a flexible and approachable manner
  6. Leadership skills and ability to coach non-financial managers
  7. Experience within an established SME would be highly advantageous
  8. High level of integrity and confidentiality
  9. Champion high standards and attention to accuracy, compliance, and deadlines
  10. Confidence in liaising with regulatory representatives and professionals in external organisations
  11. Highly proactive approach
  12. Strengths in information technology skills, particularly accounting packages, and systems
  13. Experience in sourcing and implementing accounting systems would be advantageous
  14. Extensive practical experience
  15. Proven experience as a Finance Director in a similar-scale environment in the Construction sector
  16. Experience of subsidiary accounting practices - desirable
  17. Operating knowledge of COINS
