About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer II to join our team at Thermo Fisher Scientific. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with problem reports and investigations to identify and resolve issues that impact production.
  • Continuously improve understanding of quality and productivity concepts to drive process improvements.
  • Develop and implement risk assessments to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Support and fill out permits to work to ensure compliance with safety protocols.
  • Participate in changeovers on equipment in ultra-clean areas, wearing required safety PPE and respirator.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives at the individual and team level.
  • Practice operational discipline and demonstrate agile leadership as a team.
  • Support and participate in site projects using engineering expertise to drive process improvements.
Requirements
  • Engineering modern apprenticeship or time-served qualification (Guilds/BTEC/NVQ Level 3).
  • Minimum HNC qualification in engineering.
  • 5 years of proven experience post-HNC.
  • Multi-skilled (Elec/Mech).
  • Engineering career goal.
  • Experience of implementing change, process improvement, and reducing costs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Working in ISO 5 and ISO 7 clean rooms, wearing personal respirator hood PPE to carry out daily tasks.
  • Responsible for PMs, calibrations, and servicing on key equipment.
  • Supervision of contractors, FSE, and service providers.
  • Planning of personal work requirements.
  • Embracing a 'minimise downtime, increase availability' mindset in relation to automation breakdowns.
  • Understanding and safe use of workshop tools (hand tools/automatic tools).
  • Ability, passion, and strive to become learner to user: Life Science instruments covering Genetic analysers, qPCR, PCR, RNA/DNA extractors, DNA synthesis.
  • Understanding and use of CMMS (computerised maintenance management system).
  • Routine maintenance of associated laboratory, manufacturing, and workshop equipment, including production automation, liquid filling machines, cartoners, shrink wrappers, conveying systems, and sealers.
  • Completes documentation to GDP standards.
  • Maintenance activities within the clean room environment, including clean transfer of tools and any other work-associated materials into the clean-room.
  • Responsible for supporting and aligning with the Company's safety and hazardous waste management program, including safe hazardous waste handling and good housekeeping.
