Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Urology Specialist Nurse to join our Bladder and Bowel Care Service at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

Job Summary

This is a Band 6 Specialist Nurse position that will play a key role in providing excellent care for patients with bladder and bowel issues. As a specialist nurse, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, and delivering individualized care plans that meet the unique needs of each patient.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have a strong background in urology nursing and will possess excellent clinical skills, including holistic assessment, treatment planning, and education. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of specialists, including Pelvic Health Physiotherapists, to provide comprehensive care to patients.

In addition to your clinical expertise, you will also have strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build rapport with patients, families, and healthcare professionals. Your ability to work independently and as part of a team will be essential in delivering high-quality patient care.

You will also contribute to the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and guidelines related to bladder and bowel care, ensuring that our service remains at the forefront of best practice.

Person Specification
  • A registered nurse with a strong background in urology or a related field;
  • Demonstrated expertise in holistic assessment, treatment planning, and education;
  • Excellent clinical skills, including the ability to work with complex patient cases;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients, families, and healthcare professionals;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to workload and priorities;
  • Familiarity with the latest research and evidence-based practices in bladder and bowel care;
