Job Title: Primary Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic teaching assistant to join our team at a special needs provision in Dawlish. As a teaching assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with additional needs, promoting a positive and nurturing learning environment, and helping students achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide tailored support to students with additional needs
  • Assist in implementing personalized learning strategies and interventions
  • Help create a safe and engaging learning environment that supports both academic and personal development
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other staff to support each student's unique needs
  • Encourage student independence and confidence through structured activities and guidance
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly in a 1:1 or small group setting
  • A patient, compassionate, and proactive attitude
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with both students and staff
  • The ability to remain calm and adaptable in challenging situations
  • Relevant qualifications such as a level 2 or 3 teaching assistant certificate is desirable but not essential
