Eligibility Criteria

The following criteria must be fulfilled for consideration:

  • LFR All Hazard Command Level 1 (CM) certification; external candidates will be invited to complete the assessment prior to the selection process.
  • Current and substantive operational Firefighter or Crew Manager role within a UK Local Authority Fire and Rescue Service.
  • Able to demonstrate and evidence leadership behaviors as outlined in the NFCC Leadership Framework.
  • No active or pending disciplinary actions/live sanctions.
  • No current or pending capability plans, including documented informal management actions.
  • In-date Fitness Test with a minimum predicted VO2 Max of 42mls/kg/min.
  • IFE Level 3 Certificate in Fire Science, Operations, Fire Safety, and Management, including the four mandatory units:
  • Unit 1: Fire Engineering Science (desirable)
  • Unit 2: Fire Operations
  • Unit 3: Fire Safety (or equivalent)
  • Unit 4: Management and Administration

Candidates without Unit 1: Fire Engineering Science will be eligible for the selection process but will be required to complete it within two years if successful.

Selection Process

The selection process will consist of:

  • A written report
  • A presentation
  • Interview with a panel
  • Practical training session

Successful candidates will be part of a strong team delivering services across Lincolnshire, demonstrating resilience, and showcasing a values-based approach to leadership.
