Software Team Leader Opportunity at Leonardo

We are seeking an exceptional Senior Software Development Team Manager to join our accomplished team at Leonardo, a global high-tech company and key player in Aerospace, Defence, and Security.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading our software development team, working closely with the Head of Software (ISP) to drive innovation and growth. Our team develops advanced products and capabilities, requiring a deep understanding of software development lifecycles, Agile methodologies, and formal engineering processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of software engineers on multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
  • Support the Head of Software in strategic planning, resource allocation, and team performance monitoring.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes.
  • Develop and maintain development ecosystems, ensuring effective use of tools and technologies.
  • Promote a culture of innovation, experimentation, and learning within the team.
Requirements:
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with experience in presenting complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and clients.
  • Proven experience in software development, with a solid understanding of Agile methodologies and formal engineering processes.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks, and managing competing deadlines.
  • Knowledge of safety-critical software development principles and practices.
Desirable Skills:
  • Experience with Big Data solutions, system engineering approaches, and communication technologies.
  • Familiarity with hard real-time software development and Agile lifecycles.
  • Knowledge of security clearance procedures and protocols.
