About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Handy Person to join our team at YHA London St. Pauls. As a Handy Person, you will play a vital role in ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of our Youth Hostels and grounds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out repairs and maintenance to fixtures and fittings, including planned and reactive work.
  • Support the hostel team in delivering an excellent customer experience by ensuring all areas are well-maintained.
  • Paint and decorate bedrooms and public areas, including mixing paints, matching colors, and applying paint to surfaces.
  • Coordinate larger cyclical maintenance projects with our central property team and hostel manager.
  • Perform basic repairs, plumbing repairs, and other tasks as required.
Requirements
  • Experience of painting and decorating is essential for this role.
  • City and Guilds NVQ2 in Maintenance Operations or equivalent is desirable.
  • Proven experience of repair and maintenance duties and tasks.
  • Ability to work safely and complete risk assessments.
  • Competent decorating skills and experience with hardware tools.
  • Basic understanding of electrical safety and plumbing.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and adhere to health and safety guidelines.
