Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Band 6 Specialist Psychological Practitioner to join our team at Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will work within our Women's Secure Blended Service, providing specialist psychological interventions to individuals with complex trauma, personality disorder, and mental illness.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the assessment, formulation, and delivery of psychological interventions to address complex forensic mental health problems.
  • Working with individuals, groups, and potentially families to deliver psychological interventions.
  • Contributing to the completion of risk assessments and behavioural management plans.
  • Providing training and supervision to ward staff and conducting evaluations of interventions.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and multidisciplinary team, working with individuals who have experienced adverse life experiences, including trauma and neglect. The successful candidate will have a background in teaching, counselling, social work, family work, or nursing, with experience of delivering psychological interventions.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree in Education, Social Work, Counselling, Psychology, Psychotherapy, RMN, Occupational Therapy, or Art Therapy.
  • Significant years of professional practice experience.
  • Experience of working with individuals with complex emotional and behavioural difficulties.
  • Experience of delivering individual and group psychological interventions.
  • Ability to reflect on clinical practice and understand the needs and demands of working with clients with complex developmental and social backgrounds.
