About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Glaucoma Practitioner to join our team at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing expert care to patients with glaucoma, working closely with consultants, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patients with glaucoma
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans, taking into account patient needs and preferences
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless care delivery
  • Participate in clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical guidelines and policies

Requirements

  • Professional registration with the relevant governing body (GOC, NMC, HCPC)
  • Post-registration qualification in glaucoma or equivalent experience
  • Significant experience working at Band 6 level or equivalent in a relevant specialty
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Strong clinical skills, including anterior segment examination, Goldman tonometry, and interpretation of ocular coherence topography
