About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervising Social Worker to join our team at Polaris Community. As a Supervising Social Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting foster parents and their families to achieve outstanding outcomes for children and young people in foster care.

Your primary responsibility will be to provide regular supervision to allocated foster parents, ensuring they provide a safe, healthy, nurturing, and learning environment for children/young people. You will also work in partnership with the foster family, other professionals, and the child's network to identify any needs and provide support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support foster parents to achieve outstanding outcomes for children and young people in foster care.
  • Monitor the continued suitability and competence of foster parents, ensuring they provide a safe and healthy environment.
  • Provide regular supervision to allocated foster parents, ensuring they understand the fostering task, competencies, and standards expected.
  • Work in partnership with the foster family, other professionals, and the child's network to identify needs and provide support.
  • Ensure each child and foster parent are fully compliant with key documentation.
  • Attend meetings and provide reports for Commissioning Teams to address individual packages of care.
  • Promote participation of children/young people in the development of the agency and in accessing resources and opportunities in their local community.
Requirements
  • A Social Work qualification.
  • Professional registration with Social Work England or equivalent.
  • Proven ability to produce high-quality report writing.
  • A comprehensive working knowledge of relevant legislation and child safeguarding procedures.
  • The willingness and ability to travel extensively, including occasional nights away.
  • Confidence in transporting children and young people in sometimes stressful/difficult situations.
  • A full driving licence.
