Main Purpose of Role

To ensure the delivery of multi-sized technical projects that meet specific business objectives. This involves leading a team of professionals and third parties, working in partnership with the business to deliver agreed scope, to time, cost, quality, risk appetite, and budget.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead technical projects in close partnership with key stakeholders to ensure delivery in line with agreed milestones, priorities, and quality standards, and to budget.
  2. Understand and clearly document the business objectives and critical success factors for the project.
  3. Define the project organisation structure and resourcing model, and plan the project and approach, considering dependencies and constraints, and in line with the agreed governance process, reporting, and planning standards.
  4. Build strong relationships with all stakeholders through communication and engagement, becoming a trusted partner, resolving issues, searching for solutions, and understanding opportunities to ensure delivery.
  5. Collaborate with internal technical teams, third parties, and business SMEs to ensure they work effectively, utilising knowledge, skills, resources, and experience available.
  6. Ensure the project and work stream plans are produced, actively maintained, and contain the appropriate detail.
  7. Manage the project from inception to delivery, with responsibility for day-to-day delivery on time, on budget, and to schedule, through effective leadership, direction, consultation, and facilitation.
  8. Acute awareness and management of project risks and issues, ensuring they are impact-assessed, mitigated, and escalated where appropriate.
  9. Manage project reviews and checkpoints to the agreed standards.
  10. Proactively seek opportunities to share knowledge and experience to enhance the capabilities and processes within the team and the wider Group Technology Solutions team.
  11. Act as an ambassador for Technology, role modelling our core values and leading by example.
  12. Take responsibility for personal development, ensuring a personal development plan is maintained.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  1. Proven track record of delivering technical change, covering implementation of new services, IT transformation, remediation, integration, or migrations.
  2. Ability to successfully influence and challenge senior stakeholders to achieve strategic outcomes for the business.
  3. Team player, with strong results focus and high levels of initiative and innovation, able to collaborate across all levels, functions, and businesses to drive strategic outcomes.
  4. Demonstrable experience and understanding of change techniques.
  5. Delivers on commitments and creates a culture of ownership and team responsibility within projects.
  6. The ability to find ways of solving or pre-empting problems.
  7. Delivery using 3rd parties across multiple geographies and business units.
  8. Experience working with technical SMEs specialising in applications and infrastructure; servers, networks, data, storage, middleware, and telephony.
  9. Knowledge of frameworks such as ITIL and the Development Lifecycle.
  10. In-depth knowledge and demonstrable application of different project delivery methodologies, including Agile.
  11. Strong working knowledge of Jira or DevOps boards would be an advantage.
  12. Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills, demonstrating the ability to translate technical and complex challenges into simple, clear updates, issues, and/or risks for senior stakeholders.
Qualifications Required:

Essential: Prince2, PMQ, or MSP, or Equivalent

Desirable: Evidence of equivalent experience in Financial Services
