Job Title: Technical Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Manager to join our team at Connect IT Utility Services Limited. As a key member of our Technical Team, you will be responsible for overseeing a portfolio of multi-utility infrastructure projects, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the operation of Electric, Gas, Water, and EVC projects from concept to completion.
  • Act as a strong communicator and primary point of contact for clients and operations teams, discussing project requirements, specifications, and how we can best support them.
  • Collaborate with our engineers and design team to produce timely and client-specification-compliant designs.
  • Support design engineers and sign off design methodologies.
  • Effectively hand over projects, enabling autonomous delivery.
  • Engage with utility companies and stakeholders to seek permissions for connections, overcoming engineering difficulties, and other collaborative activities.
  • Liaise with electricity, gas, and water networks to ensure processes are followed and documentation is completed satisfactorily, incorporating best practice within our procedures.
  • Provide support and advice to the estimating and design team for complex schemes.
  • Take ownership of site and design changes, communicating with commercial colleagues about cost increases or scope changes.
  • Have a strong understanding of NERs, WIRs, and GIRs, supporting the business with policy changes and scope extensions.
  • Accurately identify business risks to ensure procedures, systems, and designs can be delivered safely and to specification.
  • Support our Commercial and Business Development teams when responding to tenders and other business opportunities, confidently sharing knowledge, construction guidance, and effective solutions.
  • Create system processes and flows to drive automation and efficiency within our existing systems.
  • Support both internal and external audits, ensuring compliance.
Requirements:
  • Circa 5 years of experience in the utilities or related industry.
  • IEng or CEng registration with a relevant professional institution or actively working towards.
  • A familiarity with CDM requirements.
  • A strong communicator with good organisational and written communication skills, able to liaise with people at all levels and coach others.
  • Manage own workload and time effectively, proficient use of Microsoft applications and other company systems to record and analyse data.
  • Additional qualifications and experience may be beneficial, including a BEng or MEng related degree or relevant engineering experience in a similar role, experience or education in the use of AutoCAD for reviewing drawings, and experience of regulatory change and implementation.
