About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Therapist to join our team at Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust. As a Senior Therapist, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality therapeutic services to adults with complex emotional difficulties and trauma histories.

Key Responsibilities

  • Co-delivering therapeutic groups with multidisciplinary team colleagues within the day programme, including small psychotherapy groups, community meetings, large groups, art therapy, drama therapy, and social therapy.
  • Engaging with service users in unstructured time, such as lunch breaks, and managing a small caseload.
  • Initial assessments for suitability for the programme and contributing to an evolving formulation, multidisciplinary review, and care planning for each service user.
  • Co-facilitating the weekly Leavers Group and working alongside the multidisciplinary team to deliver the intensive day therapy programme, which is MBT informed.
  • Care management of a small caseload and writing clinical reports.
  • Effective internal and external communication.

Person Specification

  • Specialist postgraduate training to Masters level or equivalent in Psychotherapeutic modality leading to accreditation/registration with HCPC/UKCP.
  • Professional background in a mental health discipline to at least first-degree level (e.g., nursing, psychology, occupational therapy, social work, psychiatric medicine).
  • Relevant specialist training in the skills required for the specialty area.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Evidence of further CPD training in areas relevant for the client group (MBT, DBT, EMDR therapy models, approaches for specific client groups, legislation).
  • Experience of providing teaching and training to staff.
  • Good experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and presenting with the full range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings.
  • Specialist experience of psychological approaches to helping people with severe and enduring mental health problems.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to analyse and manage complex multi-factorial clinical information from a range of sources, integrating it into a formulation utilising a variety of psychological perspectives.
  • Developed knowledge of the theory and practice of highly specialised psychological therapies in specific complex groups.
  • Ability to organise own workload effectively, prioritising a complex range of tasks and responsibilities to meet agreed deadlines.
