We are seeking a highly skilled Mortgage Underwriter to join our team at KFS Recruitment. As a Mortgage Underwriter, you will be responsible for underwriting mortgage applications to high standards, interpreting credit data, and assessing portfolio landlords in accordance with current regulations and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite Mortgage Applications: Review and evaluate mortgage applications to ensure they meet the required standards and guidelines.
  • Interpret Credit Data: Analyze credit data to assess the creditworthiness of applicants and make informed decisions.
  • Assess Portfolio Landlords: Evaluate the creditworthiness of portfolio landlords and ensure they meet the required standards and guidelines.
  • Manage Workload: Effectively manage your workload to meet deadlines and ensure timely and accurate responses to enquiries.
  • Collaborate with Colleagues: Work closely with colleagues to ensure the efficient progression of applications and provide training and knowledge when required.
  • Escalate Issues: Escalate any relevant issues with senior management to proactively seek a resolution.

Requirements:

  • Mortgage Industry Experience: A minimum of 1 year's experience in the mortgage industry, with a strong understanding of the mortgage process and market.
  • Underwriting Mandate: Must have previously held an underwriting mandate.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills with high attention to quality and detail.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills with the ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt to a fast-changing environment.
