An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Director of Pharmacy and Medicine Services at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead a pharmacy team providing clinical services to the Acute Medicine & Rehabilitation (AMR) directorate. This role offers exceptional opportunities to develop a specialist clinical role alongside operational skills, leading pharmacy services to a standalone hospital site.
Key responsibilities will include developing pharmacy services across the AMR directorate, including Medicine, Stroke, Ambulatory Shortstay, Admissions, Emergency department, Ambulatory and hospital at home. The successful candidate will lead on the vision and strategy for this directorate, writing business cases and mentoring junior pharmacists to optimise patient flow. They will play a pivotal role in leading the pharmacy team in achieving safety, operational, financial and productivity improvements.
The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating and supporting the learning and development of the pharmacy team, including appraisal, diploma tutoring and pre-registration pharmacist training. They will also have the opportunity to support the wider multi-disciplinary team and identify areas to maximise their skills in support of the service.
Main Duties of the Job
We are seeking a highly motivated, confident and enthusiastic pharmacist with a demonstrable competency in hospital pharmacy practice. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate an ability to think creatively, use their initiative and have a strong commitment to improving patient outcomes and experience. Previous experience in a medical setting would be desirable but not essential.
