We are seeking an experienced and skilled children's nurse to undertake the exciting challenge of Deputy Sister on the Children's Critical Care Unit at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The unit provides high-quality, compassionate care to children who require further assessment, observation, or ongoing treatment.



The Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse role involves coordinating shifts, maintaining safe care and clinical practice, and considering skill mix in every shift. It will provide the successful candidate with the chance to build upon their leadership skills and gain a broader understanding of many aspects of management.



Main Duties


  • Demonstrate and promote best clinical practice at ward level, maintain the standard of professional practice and decision making.
  • Manage the ward team with appraisal, mentorship, and education, as well as development needs.
  • Enhance knowledge surrounding department clinical auditing and quality improvement projects.


We are looking for someone who has the right qualification, experience, and expertise to carry out this role. Full-time and part-time hours will be considered. We offer a competitive salary of around £32-£40 per hour, depending on experience, as well as a range of benefits including pension scheme, life insurance, and professional development opportunities.
