Import Customs Administrator Trainee

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Trainee Import Customs Administrator. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in customs administration and import procedures.
Key Responsibilities:- Signing of documents under a Power of Attorney on behalf of clients
- Recognising client commercial invoice(s) and packing list(s) extracting data as necessary to complete import declarations
- Liaising with importers and internal operational colleagues to obtain information for import entries
- Aiding clients on the classification of goods and their importance
- Entering details onto specialised Customs software
- Allocating the correct licences depending on type of goods being imported
- Application of duty refunds and tariff reclassification as appropriate and will assist with any appeals that may arise
- Be fully conversant with import Customs regulations, whilst keeping up to date with changes as they occur
- Inform customers on import restrictions, tariff systems, insurance requirements and all other Customs related matters
- Preparation of necessary import documentation, including T-documents, EUR1's, Certificates of Origin (CofO), CVED and other cargo control documents, as well as discharge process of T-documents etc
- Liaise with Port Health or Customs officials in areas such as document checks, goods quarantine etc
- Arrange the release of goods from Customs approved
This is a full-time position working Monday - Friday 8.00am - 5.00pm and paying up to £24,000 per annum. Reporting to the Customs Manager, you will be working in a dynamic and supportive team environment.
