Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Colorectal Specialist Nurse to join our team at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide exceptional patient care, working in partnership with patients, families, and carers to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical care, specialist nursing advice, and psychological support to patients with colorectal conditions.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, demonstrating a collaborative approach through effective communication and decision-making.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, offering advice and guidance to colleagues.
  • Accurately document and report patient information to the multidisciplinary team.
  • Identify and discuss patient needs with the team, patients, carers, and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Plan and prioritize workload, ensuring effective care delivery.
Key Objectives
  • Accept patient referrals and be identified as the key worker for an agreed patient caseload.
  • Provide advice, education, and support to patients, carers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Contribute to the smooth running of the colorectal service.
  • Work across departmental boundaries and liaise with other hospital and community teams.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the colorectal service.
Person Specification
  • Registered Nurse (Part or 15 of the Nursing and Midwifery Council Register) or National Certification in area of Practice.
  • UK recognised Degree in Nursing relevant to post.
  • Evidence of on-going professional development through maintenance of an NMC revalidation or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a related area.
Leadership
  • Able to prioritize own workload and that of others as appropriate.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Able to supervise non-registered and less experienced staff to ensure effective care delivery.
  • Understanding of professional and current issues related to area of practice.
