Claims Handler Role

We are seeking a skilled Claims Handler to join our team at National Highways. As a Claims Handler, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of cases, working with stakeholders to ensure the collation of robust information and claims are settled in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of cases, working with stakeholders to ensure claims are thoroughly investigated and supported with evidence.
  • Work closely with the legal department and barristers to discover supporting evidence for claims, ensuring all decisions withstand scrutiny and are compliant with regulations and legislation.
  • Investigate cases to ensure all evidence is factual, and make direct contact with claimants to interrogate their version of events.
  • Work with insurers, service providers, and other stakeholders to obtain information to support case resolution in a timely manner.
  • Closely work with the Claims Manager to successfully close cases through negotiation or by sending recommendations on the best value outcome.

Requirements

  • Experience of handling cases in an insurance claims environment.
  • Experience of working on IT systems, including case management systems.
  • Detailed understanding of case management and case law.
  • Excellent negotiating and client management skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Able to work under pressure and prioritise workload effectively.
