About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join our team at Lucy Electric UK. This is a key role that will involve overseeing all financial aspects of the business, including financial reporting, financial control, and record keeping.

Our innovative products feature remote operation and monitoring, linking energy generation to consumption. We cater to utility, industrial, and commercial applications, providing high-performance medium and low-voltage switchgear.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this role is estimated to be around £55,000 - £65,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus excellent benefits and a hybrid working arrangement.

Job Description

As a Financial Controller, you will be responsible for:

  1. Timely month-end closing and preparation of month-end accounts for review by the financial controller.
  2. Preparing monthly accruals, prepayments, and accounting entries.
  3. Maintenance of financial records, including general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash books, and fixed asset register.
  4. Development of financial control systems and procedures.
  5. Overseeing accounts payable and receivable processes, including credit control.
  6. Supporting analysis and appraisal of investment and financing decisions.
  7. Ensuring compliance with statutory accounting and tax regulations.
  8. Responsibility for all areas of the year-end audit.
  9. Preparation of statutory accounts.
  10. Reviewing monthly payroll calculations.
  11. Overseeing all VAT, PAYE, and other HMRC processes.
  12. Preparation and issue of monthly management reports pack.
  13. Analysing financial reports and presenting findings with department heads.
  14. Fixed asset and headcount reporting.
  15. Other ad hoc reporting as required.
  16. Preparing rolling profit forecast three times a year.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  1. A qualification in accountancy, such as ACA/ACCA/CIMA, with 3+ years of experience.
  2. Professional membership with a recognized accountancy body.
  3. The ability to work to tight deadlines while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
  4. Excellent Excel modeling skills.
  5. The ability to write financial policy and procedure documents.

Others

You will also have the opportunity to manage, mentor, and develop direct reports, covering the financial controller when they are on annual leave, and performing tasks commensurate with the position, with a flexible approach within the department.
