Job Summary:

UK Power Networks is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Operations Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Commercial Buildings team, you will be responsible for conducting and organizing maintenance of our client's electrical network and assets, ensuring no unplanned disruption to the electricity supply.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Plan and execute maintenance activities to meet scheduled targets, ensuring compliance with UKPN procedures for health, safety, quality, environmental, and welfare.
  2. Develop and implement an annual maintenance plan for acceptance by relevant building management, ensuring all work is undertaken following UKPN procedures.
  3. Manage and maintain security of our client's electrical supplies, meeting customer expectations in respect to quality, flexibility, and reliability of service.
  4. Complete necessary administrative duties, including production of monthly reports to the Client Delivery Manager, and ensure maintenance reports are prepared and provided to the client promptly.
  5. Support the Client Delivery Manager in projects and duties as assigned, including managing contract resources in the delivery of operations and maintenance works.
  6. Carry out operational Senior Authorized Person duties in the delivery of operations and maintenance requirements and new supplies.
  7. General availability out of normal office hours for fault response, and manage client interface to ensure all maintenance requirements are met, minimizing disruption to the building tenants.

Requirements:

  1. Electrical Engineering Technical Qualification
  2. Experience with MS Office software applications
  3. Experience in distribution systems, switchgear, transformers/cables, and knowledge in protection systems
  4. UKPN Senior Authorized Person
  5. Hold a current and valid full UK driving license
  6. Provide technical support as part of the Commercial Buildings team
  7. Attend and contribute to team briefings, give feedback
  8. Identify potential project risks/opportunities (raise awareness within team/company)
  9. Read electrical line drawings and understand content
  10. Work in different environments, including confined spaces and at height
  11. An understanding of all statutory requirements, including HS&E regulations
  12. Team player
  13. Live within 2 hours of the main sites
  14. Required to participate in standby arrangements and work additional hours to maintain supplies
  15. Work unsocial hours to respond to faults on system
  16. Basic knowledge of finance

Desirable Qualifications:

  1. A broad understanding of UK Power Networks Services businesses
  2. Knowledge of UK Power Networks Services PC&G process
  3. Travel around the Commercial Buildings clients' sites
  4. Ability to manage time and to meet deadlines
  5. To be skilful in decision-making
  6. Relevant Safety Qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH
  7. Knowledge of Construction Design and Management Regulations
  8. Record of team working
  9. Experience managing teams of staff/external contractors
  10. Supervisory qualification (Certificate in Management or equivalent)
  11. Experience managing small projects
  12. Work as individual or as part of a team
  13. Ability to work under pressure and remain focused on problems

Health & Safety Responsibilities:

Employees need to be aware that for some craft and operational roles that work at height, or use fall arrest devices, there is an upper weight limit of 116Kg due to maximum safe working load of the safety equipment that is used. If in doubt, ask.
