Job Title: Maintenance Supervisor

About the Role:

The University of Manchester is seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to lead our team of skilled engineers and technicians. As a key member of our facilities operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective maintenance and improvement of our building services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of the engineering team to ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks.
  • Manage both in-house staff and contract labor to foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Plan and schedule maintenance tasks to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of maintenance procedures and best practices.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to team members to foster skill development and knowledge sharing.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, equipment status, and inventory levels.
  • Collaborate with other departments to align engineering efforts with organizational goals.

Requirements:

  • Appropriate qualifications to NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) and Ordinary or Higher National Certificate qualifications (or be willing to work towards achieving the ONC/HNC level) in an electrical, mechanical or construction related discipline.
  • An established track record and experience in an engineering discipline.
  • Strong understanding of building services systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.).
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience of working with CAFM for planned and reactive maintenance activities.
  • Experience of electronic finance systems.
