Job Title: Young Persons Support Worker - Temporary Contract

Job Type: Temporary

Location: South Oxhey, Hertfordshire

Hours: 21.5 hours per week including weekend work

Duration: Temporary – Three months ongoing

Pay: £15.93 per hour via an Umbrella Company PAYE

This is a temporary contract for a Young Persons Support Worker to join a friendly team working with homeless young people. The successful candidate will be required to work up to 21.5 hours per week, including weekend shifts.

Main Duties:

  • Working with a caseload of young people in their own accommodation ages 16-25
  • Dealing with young people suffering from mental health issues and drug and alcohol misuse
  • Carrying out support plans and risk assessments
  • Teaching life skills and preparing the young people to live independently in the community
  • Supporting clients with budgeting and applying for housing benefits to reduce rent arrears
  • Actively encouraging and facilitating activities to engage and involve the young people
  • Promoting independence at all times
  • Adhering to safeguarding policies and procedures at all times
  • Updating notes and records ensuring they are concise and accurate

Essential Requirements:

  • An enhanced DBS from within the last three years or willingness to obtain one
  • Experience working with vulnerable young people in a supported living environment
  • A car is useful but not essential due to the location of the project
