Job Advert - Role Description

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a committed Registered Mental Health Nurse to work in a leading hospital in Ayr, South Ayrshire. The hospital provides acute adult mental health services within a low Secure Service, for patients with personality disorders.

As a Nurse, you will be working for Priory Group, one of the UK's leading providers of behavioural care and specialist support services to adults. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills when liaising with members of the multi-disciplinary team, external agencies and organisations, patients and relatives. A good working knowledge of the Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act 2007 is also essential.

During probation, there is the requirement to work day shift until training and competencies are completed and signed off. This could be a period of 3 to 6 months.

As a Nurse, your key duties will include:

  • Providing a high standard of care to people with mental illness and personality disorder
  • Developing therapeutic relationships to optimise patient engagement
  • Contributing to patient assessments, compiling a plan of care alongside the individual, and monitoring patient progress
  • At a more senior level, you'll also need to lead shifts as well as mentoring and supporting student nurses and other members of the team
  • FOLLOWING ALL CODES OF CONDUCT, STANDARDS AND LEGISLATION, RESPECTING THE RIGHTS OF OTHERS AND PROMOTING ETHICAL PRACTICE
