About the Role

Thomas Thor is seeking a highly skilled Senior I&C Design Technical Lead to join our multidisciplinary team in the development of next-generation nuclear power technology. As a key member of our team, you will provide technical leadership for the engineering assessment, design, and safety justification of the SMR-300 small modular reactor.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead on I&C Systems Engineering for SMR-300 plant protection, control, and monitoring systems.
  • Demonstrate SMR-300 I&C architecture suitability for safety functional claims.
  • Demonstrate production excellence of the I&C Platform(s) utilised in SMR-300.
  • Oversight, as Intelligent Customer, of key evidence supporting safety claims.
  • Support the development of the I&C chapter of the Safety Case for submission in the SMR-300 GDA.
  • Coach and mentor to develop the team and the individuals in technical and personal skills enabling them to deliver.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to internal and external organizations, including the nuclear regulators.
  • Defend I&C design positions.
Requirements
  • Degree qualified in an engineering or science-related discipline.
  • Must possess excellent credentials in principles of power plant digital control design.
  • Ability to work independently and balance competing priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Able to engage credibly within and external to the business.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills – able to present at multiple organisational levels and to external regulatory stakeholders.
  • A credible decision maker, able to create confidence through crafting of strong justifications and arguments.
  • Eligible to work under 10 CFR Part 810.
Desirable Experience
  • Experience with integrated control systems.
  • Experience with Human Machine Interface assessments.
  • Cyber Risk Assessments.
