Spinal Injuries Rehabilitation Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Spinal Injuries Rehabilitation to join our team at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing acute management and long-term follow-up of patients admitted to the Princess Royal Spinal Injuries Centre.
The appointee will share equitable responsibilities with their professional colleagues and actively contribute to the governance arrangements of the Department. They will conduct multi-disciplinary ward rounds, goal planning, and see out-patients. Participation in research and teaching is also expected, as well as participation in a 1 in 6 on-call rota.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide comprehensive care to acutely injured patients with spinal cord injury.
- Manage pressure sores and spasticity.
- Work in trauma settings/with spinal surgical teams managing acute spinal cord injury.
- Conduct research and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
- Teach student doctors and doctors in training at all levels.
- Full and Specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
- Name on the specialist register for relevant specialty.
- Substantial experience in Rehabilitation Medicine, preferably with spinal injuries as a major component.
- MD or PhD or equivalent.
- Ability to work as an independent practitioner in spinal injuries.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrates behaviour consistent with PROUD values in all interactions with MDT.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
