Occupational Therapist Specialist Spinal Rehabilitation

A unique opportunity has arisen for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join STEPS Rehabilitation as part of the Specialist Spinal Rehabilitation team.
STEPS Rehabilitation is a purpose-built facility providing high-quality care to clients with spinal injuries and complex trauma. As a Specialist Spinal Rehabilitation Occupational Therapist, you will be part of an interdisciplinary team working collaboratively to deliver holistic therapy and support to our clients.
Main DutiesAs a Specialist Spinal Rehabilitation Occupational Therapist, your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing high-quality OT assessment and intervention to clients within the specialist clinical area
- Assessing and providing OT assessment and intervention addressing occupational performance in self-care, leisure, and productivity
- Undertaking the client key worker role within STEPS Rehabilitation
- Involving clients and carers in the development and delivery of goals within the rehabilitation plan
- Assessing, implementing, and monitoring individual client rehabilitation plans
- Carrying out community visits to support clients' goals and transition from STEPS
- Identifying specialist equipment to optimise functional independence and quality of life
- Completing required documentation, including clinical notes and comprehensive reports
- Ensuring accurate recording and monitoring of relevant outcome measures

Person SpecificationThe ideal candidate will possess:
- Registration with the HCPC
- BSc in Occupational Therapy
- Postgraduate Masters level module in a relevant subject or equivalent knowledge and skills
- Comprehensive post-registration experience, including experience at specialist/senior level treating spinal injuries
- Highly skilled in managing a complex neurological caseload
- Knowledge and experience in education, training, and development of junior team members
- Specialist rehabilitation experience in treating clients with motor, sensory, cognitive, perceptual, emotional, and psychological problems
- Knowledge in wheelchairs, seating, and postural management
- Experience in assessing for equipment and setting and reviewing client-centered goals
- IT experience, including Microsoft Office packages
- Experience of working within governance frameworks, clinical systems, data management, complaints, and reporting incidents
