About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mental Health Practitioner to join our specialist team at Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust. As a Specialist Mental Health Practitioner, you will be responsible for providing high-quality, evidence-based clinical interventions to children and young people with complex mental health needs.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in mental health, with experience of working with children and young people, families, and carers. You will be a member of a multi-disciplinary team, working closely with other professionals to provide comprehensive care and support.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist mental health assessments and therapeutic interventions to children and young people with complex needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans, working closely with families and carers to ensure the best possible outcomes.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and nurses, to provide comprehensive care and support.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of evidence-based clinical care packages, ensuring that services are tailored to meet the needs of children and young people.
  • Provide consultation, teaching, and training to other professionals, promoting best practice and improving service delivery.

Requirements

  • Qualified in a core profession, such as Mental Health Nurse (RMN), Mental Health Practitioner, Clinical Psychologist, Occupational Therapy, or Social Work.
  • Intermediate or diploma level in a recognized therapeutic modality.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development and substantial post-qualification competence, incorporating significant experience working within CAMHS at a senior level.
  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team and providing consultation, teaching, and training to other professionals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with children, young people, families, and carers.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to user participation and non-discriminatory practice.
