United Utilities is seeking a skilled Energy Generation Specialist to join our team. As an Energy Generation Specialist, you will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and optimizing the energy generation asset base, ensuring that it achieves the required availability, quality, generation targets, performance, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate, maintain, and optimize the energy generation asset base, including a fleet of spark ignition and dual fuel CHP engines, gas to grid assets, siloxane removal plants, carbon vessels, and associated ancillaries.
Carry out regular diagnosis, adjustment, and optimization of the energy generation asset base to achieve optimum performance.
Match the requirements for site processes with the delivery of targeted power production.
Diagnose and rectify faults, ensuring correct operation of the energy generation asset base and optimizing availability.
Perform planned maintenance activities on the energy generation assets to achieve required levels of availability.
Have a complete understanding of the energy generation assets' control systems to make operational changes and optimize performance.
Understand the commercial consequences of underperformance during critical periods and ensure best possible performance during these periods.
Requirements:
Time served in a relevant engineering discipline, HNC, ONC, or equivalent in a relevant technical area.
Relevant engine manufacturer's specific training.
Experience in operating and maintaining HV/LV power generation installations, alternators, heat recovery systems, and ignition and control systems.
Knowledge of SSW, company policy, statutory regulations, operation procedures, maintenance procedures, and administration procedures.
Practical knowledge of fault finding and repairs to medium speed gas engines and ancillary plant.
Competency in a flexible skill role to NVQ level 3, diagnostics, organization skills, communication skills, computer skills, and engine manufacturer's specific training.
