Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Rating to join our team on a 3-month Fixed Term contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of all machinery and electrical equipment onboard the vessel, as well as carrying out the role of GP Rating.

Main Responsibilities
  • Familiarize yourself with the vessel's construction, machinery, and operating characteristics.
  • Conduct thorough checks before departure on a sea passage to ensure the vessel is prepared for the voyage.
  • Report any deficiencies to the Master and Maintenance Superintendent.
  • Perform regular inspections of machinery and machinery spaces to maintain awareness of the condition and operational capability of all equipment.
  • Arrange transfers of fuel, lube oil, and fresh water.
  • Ensure all planned maintenance and repair work is carried out.
  • Work with the Maintenance Superintendent to plan maintenance and repairs for minimum disruption to the vessel's program.
  • Ensure all measures to prevent pollution of the environment are exercised.
  • Keep accurate engine room records as required by the Company and other authorities.
  • Provide a detailed handover when joining or leaving the vessel.
  • Be familiar with Company and Shipboard regulations and policies.
  • Participate in safety drills and training to ensure the highest operation standard of the vessel.
  • Carry out any other duties as reasonably requested by the Master.
  • Perform duties of GP Rating and RIB Coxswain.
Required Knowledge and Experience
  • ENG 1 certification.
  • Sea Survival Course completion.
  • Basic Fire Fighting training.
Desirable Qualifications
  • ATV AEC 1 & 2 certification.
  • RSC AEC 1 certification.
  • Knowledge of the technical operation of designated equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of operational processes.
  • Good command of English (written and spoken).
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety rules.
  • Basic skills in ICT Office and fleet management systems.
  • Formal Qualification in a relevant Engineering discipline.
  • Elementary First Aid training.
  • RYA Powerboat Level 2 certification.
  • Mandatory NINA training.
Other Essential Requirements
  • 3 years UK residency.
  • Full driving license.
  • Current passport.
  • Availability to work 3-week on, 2-week off, shift pattern.
