Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Ocean Data Scientist and Software Developer to join our team at the University of Plymouth. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of software products for the Ocean Forecasting Centre in Abu Dhabi.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with NEMO ocean models, FORTRAN and Python code, and computer programming on LINUX-based systems. They will also be skilled in parallel computing on an HPC cluster and data assimilation using NEMOVAR or similar software.

The successful candidate will work closely with our team to develop and apply numerical models and techniques to solve scientific problems. They will also research, interpret, and analyse complex data using various systems and develop technical documentation for the software.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

The successful candidate will require a strong background in oceanography and software development, as well as excellent communication and teamwork skills.
