We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Geriatric Medicine Specialist to join our team at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. As a Consultant in Geriatric Medicine, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and leading a multidisciplinary team to deliver excellent healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities- Provide consultant input to 10-12 beds in a 24-bedded COTE ward in Glan Clwyd Hospital, working closely with other consultant colleagues and junior doctors.
- Attend ward Board Rounds to discuss patient management and discharge plans, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
- Lead outpatient clinics and specialty clinics, with a standard template including 2 new and 5 follow-up patients.
- Have continuing responsibility for patient care, working in liaison with consultant colleagues and delegating tasks to junior staff, ensuring proper training and supervision.
- Participate in an acute medical on-call rota, with prospective cover and post-take ward rounds, acting as an Educational or Clinical Supervisor for junior medical staff.
Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board is the largest health organisation in Wales, providing a comprehensive range of primary, community, mental health, and acute hospital services to a population of around 676,000 people across North Wales. We employ around 16,500 staff and have a budget of £1 billion, operating three district general hospitals and 22 other acute and community hospitals, as well as a network of health centres, clinics, and community health teams.
Requirements- Full GMC registration and license to practice.
- MRCP or equivalent qualification.
- CCT or equivalent in Geriatric and General Medicine or CESR.
- Experience in general and geriatric medicine, with a wide range of skills and knowledge.
- Ability to lead a multidisciplinary team, develop good working relationships, and innovate and enthuse.
