About the Role

The University of Oxford is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Head of Information Governance, Compliance and Assurance. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic team and contribute to the development and implementation of the assurance framework for the department.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the department has adequate and effective processes in place to comply with legislative and regulatory obligations. This will involve contributing to the development and implementation of policies and procedures, as well as providing guidance and support to staff on information governance matters.

The role will also involve representing the department with external stakeholders, including funders and external auditors. The successful candidate will work closely with the department's academic leadership and other University officers responsible for compliance and assurance.

The Head of Information Governance, Compliance and Assurance will be a key member of the COO's senior management team and will be expected to provide strategic insights and recommendations for improvements to operations and services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement information governance policies and procedures
  • Provide guidance and support to staff on information governance matters
  • Represent the department with external stakeholders
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the assurance framework for the department
  • Work closely with the department's academic leadership and other University officers responsible for compliance and assurance

Requirements

  • Accounting, audit or governance, risk and compliance background
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience of preparing written documents and engaging with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work without close supervision, exercising independent judgement, responsibility and discretion
