Job Summary
NHS England is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Consultant to lead the Paediatrics School as the new Head of School. This exciting opportunity requires a strong leader with experience in postgraduate education, negotiation, and ensuring high standards in specialty training.
Main Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be professionally and managerially accountable to the Postgraduate Dean. Key responsibilities include improving learner supervision, assessment, and experience, engaging faculty, and ensuring effective educational outcomes. The role also involves whole workforce transformation, developing multi-professional links, and innovative curriculum delivery and workforce well-being strategies.

Requirements
The ideal candidate will have a primary clinical healthcare qualification, membership or fellowship of a College, Faculty, professional association, and/or regulatory body. They will also have considerable experience of working with doctors in an educational context, clinical and educational leadership, and innovation, including managing a multi-professional team. The successful candidate will be trained and experienced in recruitment, selection, and equality and diversity, and will have active involvement in and up-to-date with appraisal processes.
Skills and Qualities
The successful candidate will demonstrate leadership skills, an ability to motivate others, a strong sense of vision, and an ability to innovate. They will be politically astute, able to sensitively manage complexity and uncertainty, and have excellent interpersonal, communication, written, and presentation skills. The ideal candidate will also be able to quickly establish personal and professional credibility with colleagues and other key stakeholders, and have a commitment to their own personal development and the ability to support others to develop and progress.
