Associate Director - Transport Planning (Manchester)

We are seeking a highly skilled Associate Director to lead our transport planning team in Manchester. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in business development, with a focus on the North West markets. This role will involve leading on work winning through established client contacts, building a solid workload, and managing a small team to support the existing team in Manchester.

This position requires strong project management and technical skills, as well as the ability to instruct, supervise, and mentor junior staff. The candidate will need to demonstrate relevant technical and market knowledge, experience of working on projects for the private and public sectors across the North West, and a keen understanding of the UK transport planning industry and the UK planning system.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Proven project management and business development capabilities, including proposal writing
  • Knowledge of the UK transport planning industry and the UK planning system
  • Extensive experience in preparing Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, and Transport chapters for Environmental Statements
  • Self-motivation and capability to undertake specific tasks with minimum supervision
  • Ability to manage own time to meet project deadlines
  • Experience of delivering technically challenging projects
  • Experience of liaising and negotiating with public and private sector clients
  • Understanding of current design guides, such as Manual for Streets and DMRB
  • Knowledge of junction modelling software

Requirements:

• Degree or Masters in a relevant subject (e.g. transport planning, civil engineering, geography)
