About the Academic Mentor for SEND Students Role

We are seeking an experienced Academic Mentor to join our team at a primary school in Wellington, Somerset. As an Academic Mentor, you will play a key role in supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) to achieve their full potential.

This is a challenging yet rewarding opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of young people facing educational barriers due to their SEN.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide academic support to students with SEN, including tailored lesson planning and delivery.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes dignity and respect for all students.
  • Collaborate with the SEND Coordinator and teachers to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with SEN.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Prior experience working as a Teaching Assistant or a similar role supporting children or young people with SEN.
  • Excellent academic qualifications, with a strong understanding of curriculum design and delivery.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, with a flexible approach to meeting the needs of students and colleagues.
  • Enhanced DBS check or willingness to obtain one.
Salary and Benefits

The salary for this role is £90 per day, which equates to approximately £18,180 per annum based on 200 days worked. This is a competitive rate for an Academic Mentor in the Wellington area.
