Job Title: Head of Market Risk

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Market Risk to join our team at Octopus Energy. As a key member of our Energy Markets team, you will be responsible for managing and mitigating market risk across our international supply businesses.

Key Responsibilities:

* Work closely with our supply entities in all countries to understand market conditions and agree appropriate risk approaches
* Develop and implement Group and country-specific Market Risk Policies, consulting local traders and management
* Design and deliver analysis and visualisations that collate country-specific risk positions into a single, clear Group view, with delivery supported by the engineering team
* Pull together Group view on weather risk and originate and execute positions to manage this risk
* Work closely with local trading management to originate appropriate wholesale deals
* Identify and explore opportunities to use asset and consumer flexibility as risk management tools
* Generate explanatory materials for senior stakeholders, up to and including the Octopus Energy Group board

Requirements:

* Strong numerical ability and understanding of risk
* Energy market experience beneficial but not essential
* Basic Python knowledge beneficial but not vital
* Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects
* Excellent interpersonal skills, enabling effective formation of trusted relationships with business unit management teams
