Graduate Teaching Assistant Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Graduate Teaching Assistant to join our team at EdEx. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and development of our students, particularly those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students in 1:1, group, or whole-class situations, prioritizing their safety and access to learning in a supportive learning environment.
  • Assist in developing resources, schemes of work, and teaching strategies, working closely with the teacher to ensure the provision supports learning needs.
  • Evaluate students' progress and provide feedback on their achievements, progress, and needs.
  • Lead small group sessions and interventions as appropriate.
  • Attend to students' personal needs where required.
  • Support with behavior management.
  • Prepare the classroom for lessons, clear afterwards, and assist with the display of students' work.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with parents/carers, gathering and reporting information as directed.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications to degree level or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of SEND and the various barriers to learning.
  • Some knowledge of strategies in working with young people with challenging behaviors.
  • Knowledge of some of the social issues facing students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
  • Awareness of Health and Safety issues in a school environment.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, with an excellent standard of written and spoken English.
