Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Highway Inspector to join our team at Cambridgeshire County Council. As a key member of our Place & Sustainability department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality asset management services that support the economic wellbeing of our county.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out programmed and ad hoc inspections of the road network to identify and address defects and safety concerns.
  • Provide evidence to support inspections and respond to third-party claims and insurance issues.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers, businesses, and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Manage highway work, works ordering, and correspondence in a geographical area.
  • Support the Team Leader and other managers in delivering the Council's objectives through joined-up service planning, community engagement, and resource management.
Requirements
  • Experience in highway maintenance and a sound technical understanding of highways.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge and application of asset management principles.
  • Ability to build relationships with customers, businesses, and stakeholders.
