About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Nuclear Regulator to join our team at the Environment Agency. As a Senior Nuclear Regulator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest levels of environmental protection are achieved in the nuclear industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist advice and guidance to senior managers and external partners on relevant legislation and best practice.
  • Develop and implement systems and tools for monitoring and reporting on service delivery, to assess and interpret operational performance and compliance.
  • Advise senior managers on implications and appropriate action to ensure effective risk-based decision making and support environmental outcomes.
  • Lead compliance audit and inspection programmes at nuclear sites, ensuring consistency across the business.
Requirements
  • A scientific degree or equivalent vocational experience, with proven experience and sound knowledge of relevant UK legislation relevant to radioactive substances regulation.
  • Significant experience of working in the nuclear industry or regulating it, with a nuclear engineering background or experience in radiological monitoring or radiological assessment skills, nuclear project management, or experience of new reactor design assessment.
  • Full UK driving licence, with frequent and occasionally unscheduled travel required.
