Technical Manager Role Overview

Vistry Group PLC is seeking a highly skilled Technical Manager to join our team in Reading, Berkshire. As a Technical Manager, you will play a crucial role in the design development and delivery of our residential projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage multiple sites from design stage to post-completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to key dates.
  • Undertake the Principal Designer role, coordinating delivery of surveys and reports, and managing associated requirements.
  • Coordinate consultants to deliver civil engineering designs, including legal plans and house type working drawing packs.
  • Obtain and collate ancillary specialist drawings, undertake value engineering assessments, and ensure buildability is considered.
  • Coordinate submission of designs and secure technical approvals for agreements such as S104, S38 & S278.
  • Coordinate utility designs and initial mains laying onto site, ensuring legal agreements are completed in a timely manner.
  • Prepare all drawings and documents for engineering and superstructure elements for tender, followed by construction issue and sales handover.
  • Coordinate street naming with local authorities, complete plot lists, and distribute internally and externally.
  • Assist in production of Sales brochures, legal and sales handover meetings, and provide information for Housing Association contracts.
  • Attend departmental meetings, chair pre-development meetings with external consultants, and ensure all relevant stakeholders are kept informed.
Requirements:
  • BTEC HND/HNC in Design, Construction, or Civil Engineering.
  • Extensive experience working within a technical role at a residential house builder.
  • Good level of IT literacy with experience of AutoCAD, Revit, Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Proven ability in a Senior Technical Manager role of assessing technical aspects for land opportunities and delivering design for projects on time, to budget, and quality standards.
  • Excellent organisation and time management with ability to multitask.
  • Commercially aware and able to make decisions within authority.
  • Able to lead and work as a team member, with strong mathematical ability and professional aptitude.
Desirable:
  • Further education, i.e., CIOB.
  • Principle Designer and associated Health and Safety training/qualifications.
  • CSCS card qualification.
  • Use of Viewpoint drawing management system.
  • Proficient use of Auto Cad.
  • Management of technical fees and services cost to complete.
  • Continued professional development and keeping up to date with changes within the industry.
