We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our City of Edinburgh Council Public Space CCTV Team as a CCTV Monitoring Operator. This exciting opportunity involves completing the citywide system upgrade and integrating new cameras and technology with the existing network.

Job Overview

This role is responsible for providing 24/7 monitoring of public space CCTV cameras from the Edinburgh Operations Centre (EOC). The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Monitor images from public space CCTV cameras across the city, focusing on suspicious circumstances or incidents.
  • Prioritise live incidents and make decisions regarding recording and identifying suspect individuals and incidents.
  • Carry out duties in accordance with designated codes of practice, operator guidelines, and legislation.

The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills, be able to work effectively in a small team, and possess strong communication skills. Additionally, they should be able to remain calm under pressure and provide accurate information concisely.

Responsibilities

The CCTV Monitoring Operator will be responsible for:

  • Monitoring equipment at the Multi Agency Control Centre (MACC) during major events.
  • Participating in periodic RIPSA surveillance operations, ensuring compliance with the granted permission document.
  • Recording incidents on a shift log and entering data into a database for statistical production.
  • Leaving cameras in rest positions to maximise evidence collection opportunities.

Salary Information

The estimated salary for this role is £24,000 - £25,000 per annum, with an additional £8,000 annually for shift arrangement payments.
